About Us
The Wilkes Barre Twp Fire/Rescue Dept protects a strong residential and commercial area.Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. The Wilkes Barre Twp Fire Dept is first due to the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza as well as the Wyoming Valley Mall. Interstate 81 cuts through our coverage area as well as business route 309.We have 3 Engines, a Rescue, and a Aerial Ladder. Our Aerial Ladder which is 125ft. fully extended is one of the biggest in the Wyoming Valley if not the biggest in PA. We are mutual aid to several surrounding communities such as Ashley Borough and Laurel Run Borough.
On June 24,25, & 26 2004, we were the proud host of the 101st annual Six-County Fireman's Convention and Parade.
The Wilkes Barre Twp Vol. Fire Dept originated in 1969 and received its charter in 1971
The Wilkes-Barre Twp Vol. Fire Dept will help any person(s) in the time of need. This showed after the 9/11 attacks on our country 4 firefighters from our company made there way to Ground Zero to help in the rescue and recovery efforts.
